12 Suburbs

I've been inspired. 52 Suburbs is a blog by a lady who explores and photographs one Sydney suburb each week for a year. The photos are gorgeous and it's an awesome idea. Gosh it would be hard work though!

I was thinking about doing that sort of thing in the northern suburbs when I realised that there are 12 suburbs from Moonah to Granton. So how about one a month? Perfect! Daunting, but do-able. So I've set myself the challenge. April is practice month and I'll start with Moonah in May.

Now, I just have to get over my fear of taking photos of people!

The coolest idea Bron. It'll help you love the places too - you'll notice surprising suburban beauty. I keep wanting to be a brilliant photographer who can take slightly sephia coloured shots of the iconic suburban houses in the streets round here.

I know what you mean about taking photos of people. I can't do it either unless I'm far away. Then I try to look completely confident and unfazed, and no-one ever says anything. Maybe you should ask a professional photographer for tips.

Maybe once you're done, you could exhibit them in Northgate or something. Be a part of fostering civic pride, start a few conversations, become known as the "camera lady" . . .
